The “Beef” actor David Choe has drawn criticism for previously unreleased film in which he describes his own “rapey behaviour” towards a massage therapist. However, the video is no longer readily available online.
In an episode of Choe’s podcast “DVDASA” titled “Erection Quest,” writers Aura Bogado and Meecham Whitson Meriweather both posted video on Thursday; however, both clips were taken down on Sunday. Both claim to have received emails from Twitter informing them of Choe’s own Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notifications.
Variety has examined the email sent by Twitter to Meriweather, in which a person purporting to be David Young Choe asks that Bogado and Meriweather’s tweets be taken down “immediately” because they are “copyright infringing media.”
Choe’s allegations in the video have previously come under scrutiny, and in 2014, in response to criticism, he said that his account had been “misinterpreted” and “not a representation of my actuality. (His full quotation is below.) Also said by Choe in a 2014 New York Times profile: “I never raped anyone.” According to The Times, he asserted that the masseuse tale was a fabrication and a work of performance art.
In the recently discovered clips, Choe discusses a time when he received a massage from a therapist he refers to as Rose with his co-host Asa Akira and other guests. He declares, “I’m getting sexy just telling this story.” I simply took her hand and placed it on mine.

dick. She only keeps it still. Akira inquires as to Rose’s hand’s condition before stating that she was “holding it on her own.”

Choe continues by saying that after asking Rose to “help [him] out,” she started to move her hands, but it was “horrible.” She’s still in denial, Akira argues, and Choe agrees:”She denies it. And I said, “Can I help you?” “All right, all right,” she whispers, and I begin massaging my dick with her hand still resting there.
I said, “Spit on it.” She says, “Uh, no. I’d rather not do it. No, spit on my dick, I said. She says, “No. This is absurd. She doesn’t like it at all, but she also doesn’t stop it. I told her to kiss it since she wouldn’t spit on it.”No, there’s all the oil,” she answers.
As of now At that moment, Akira speaks up and asks, “What’s up with you? You’re making too many demands.
The excitement of potentially going to jail, according to Choe’s conclusion, was what satisfied his desire for an erection.
Choe responds, “Yeah,” before responding to the other guests’ inquiries regarding Rose’s appearance. “Ew, you’re basically telling us that you’re a rapist now, and that the only way to get your dick really hard is rape,” Akira remarks.
“What in the fuck is wrong with you guys?” Asks Akira. Who cares how she appears? Dave claims to be a rapist to us.
He quips, “A successful rapist.”
“Beef” debuted on Netflix on April 6 and was made by A24 with Choe playing Isaac in a supporting role. Choe, A24, Netflix, and “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin’s agents did not immediately answer when Variety asked them for comment.
Choe did make a statement regarding “Erection Quest” back in 2014, which you can read in full here, even if he hasn’t addressed the criticism this time around.
I never imagined that I would hear myself being labelled a rapist when I woke up one late afternoon. It’s awful. especially considering that I don’t. I don’t commit rapes. I detest rapists and believe they ought to be slain as well as raped.
I consider my show DVDASA to be a perfect extension of my art because I am both an artist and a storyteller.
If I’m guilty of anything, it would be shoddy storytelling. The same is true of my presentation, just as many of my paintings are frequently misunderstood. All of my podcasts are primarily intended to provoke and challenge my friends and the other cast members. We play games, amuse ourselves, and make fun of one another. We mess with everyone watching on our nasty, tasteless, totally irreverent show, but especially with ourselves. We tell tales and make up stories. It isn’t a news programme. It doesn’t reflect how things really are for me. You shouldn’t go there if you want accurate information about me or my life. It’s my interpretation of reality and occasionally offensive art. If anyone, I apologise. believed the stories to be true. No, they weren’t!
